Patricia Barber Tingle’s passion was Education. She spent 50 years working as an educator and/or school counselor. Her lifelong goal was to prepare students to focus on their highest potential.
Patricia Tingle's Career in Education began in 1952, when she graduated from University of Houston. In 1953, she moved to Wharton, Texas with her husband, Boyd Tingle, where she taught elementary school. In 1957, she and Boyd moved to Freeport, Texas where she taught school, and obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Houston. in 1964, she and her family moved to San Marcos to begin a new teaching and counseling carrer at Gary Jobs Corps. While living in San Marcos, she also taught at San Marcos High School, and later became a counselor at the Hays/Blanco Coop for Special Education. From 1968-1990 She and her husband opened a boys camp called Rim Rock Ranch in Wimberley, Texas operating the camp during summer. While in charge of Rim Rock, she had an opportunity to teach many different students, including students from Gallaudet University to international students at the Defense National Institute, English Language Center, along with working with different church/choir groups.
